A Day at Voorste Kraal

At Voorstekraal Learning Centre, every day is filled with joy, discovery, and growth. 

Sessions: Monday – Friday

7:00 AM – Welcoming Arrival 

Children are greeted with warm smiles as they settle in with quiet activities like puzzles and drawing, easing into the day.

8:00 AM – Breakfast

The children enjoy porridge or cereal together.

8:15 AM – Circle Time and Morning Songs

We gather to sing, share stories, and discuss the day, the weather, celebrate birthdays, building a sense of community and encouraging early language skills.

08:30 AM – Learning and Exploration

Hands-on activities begin as the children choose the activity that interests them, thus encouraging self-motivation, independence in thought and action, sparking curiosity and creativity. This work cycle allows the children to engage deeply with an activity, thus developing their concentration and inner discipline until their curiosity is satisfied.

Snack

here is a designated space for children to enjoy a snack brought from home, and which can be accessed whenever they feel hungry. As it is a shared space, the children learn to respect one another by always keeping it clean and tidy.

12:00 PM – Lunch

Everyone enjoys a healthy meal together, sharing stories and building social skills around the table.

12.30 - Story time

A nutritious snack provides a break, followed by free play, where children engage in imaginative and social activities.

13:00 – Rest and Quiet Time

Children relax with a nap or quiet activities.

15.00 PM – Outdoor Play and Afternoon Learning

We head outside for active play and nature-based learning, then return indoors for group activities like story telling or games.

Departure

This time is flexible. Children are collected by parents or a designated carer at times to suit their family schedules.

Meals:

Parents are encouraged to provide nutritious food for their children. Porridge is provided by them at the beginning of each month and made up by our staff each breakfast time, while snacks and lunch are brought from home on a daily basis.

Toilet

Children learn the skills to use the toilet independently, so there is always access to the bathroom facility.

Developing independence and sense of community:

Wherever possible, children are involved in communal activities, such as preparing and cleaning up after lunch, wiping tables, and washing the dishes. Children also assist in setting up for rest time.

After acceptance, parents will complete the registration process, including submitting necessary documentation. We also offer an orientation session for both children and parents to help everyone feel comfortable and prepared for the start of the programme.
